Due to some computer problems, I don’t have a picture this month. Sorry folks. Evelyn is getting pretty big though. I took her to the doctor this month and she’s over 8 kilos! This puts her back on the growth scale (yes!) and gets the doctor off my back about how small she is.
She eats better now. She will eat beans sometimes and lunchmeat and peanut butter and jelly. We discovered this month that she’s milk sensitive, so all the yogurt had to go. Very frustrating when it’s the only food you can be sure the kid will eat and when you know it’s your kid’s favorite. Hopefully we’ll be able to ease it back in slowly. I still give her a little dairy and she gets a yogurt once every week or two. And she doesn’t throw up anymore. Yay for that.
Evelyn is really figuring out the world. She brings me my shoes and points until I put them on my feet (very interesting when I’m say, doing the dishes…). She points at her shoes until I take them off her. Then she points again until I put them back on. She claps when she wants to play patty cake and likes to beep my nose. She discovered her belly button recently and that’s a favorite activity anytime anyone mentions it or we do a diaper change.
She also loves to participate in our hand washing parties after Avery goes on the toilet. Avery and I both have to wash hands, and she thinks she needs to be in there getting her hands washed too. Luckily I usually wash our hands in the bathtub because the sink is a little high still and Evelyn is just tall enough to get her hands up over the edge and into tub so I can spray her hands with the sprayer.
Her favorite toy right now is Avery’s doll stroller. She’s barely tall enough to see over the top and the handles are about at nose height and she goes careening through the house bumping into everything lower than two feet high. It’s hilarious when she gets going fast because she almost can’t keep up with it and her legs start flying out to the side so she looks like a penguin trying to run. We hear her screeching and grunting all day as she backs up and shoves forward when she gets stuck on thresholds and shoes.
Evelyn’s pretty much a walker now. Up until a week ago or so I would still say she crawled more than she walked, but the last couple days she’s really switched over to walking. She does the toddler walk with her chest sticking out and her arms out to the side. She reminds me of a bouncer. She still falls down a lot, but she’s getting pretty good. I love watching babies walk.
Her favorite games are “row row row your boat” and “patty cake.” She loves fruit. She really likes to cuddle and every day when I get her up from her nap she grabs all the blanket and dolly she can hold in a frantic rush of activity before I can pick her up. She likes to go places and be outside. She likes to hide in the curtain with Avery. She’s our funny girl.
